Simba from the Lion KIng

Remember who you are!

This week end I went to see the Lion king. It was amazing and so full of spiritual meaning.

It is in it's 11th year which is significant for me as we moved to this house which is number 11 on the 11.11.11. from another house numbered 11. I chatted to Dr Jo Ibojie who has written many books on dream interpretation and at a conference he said to me that 11 is symbolic number of things coming to reckoning and fruition.

The Lion King is about young Simba who was tricked out of being king by Scar, his uncle. Under Scar's leadership there is hunger, drought and oppression. Simba realises the consequences of not standing in his God given authority and remembers who he is and who he was born to be. He claims back being king in order to restore care and protection to the pride lands. The rains return the very day he is enthroned.

This weekend I also spoke to three women who shared with me the problem of being held back by those who should have offered them support, covering and release.

One woman was not being supported by her church leader for an outreach project which was already running, one was waiting to partner with a church leader which wasn't happening and the final example was a woman who was newly widowed and needed finances that were rightly hers to be released but this person was delaying this support and causing the widow pain and anxiety.

I believe God is saying...

Enough.. if you have been waiting and waiting for your leader to cover your calling (e.g. outreach project) you should find one who will. I remember Paul Scanlon of Abundant Life church released his congregation in Bradford and there was consequently a raft of new outreach projects to all different people of the city including gift hampers to prostitutes to show the love of God. He released them to do what God had called them to do, offered them a general covering and did not hold onto the power for himself.

Enough...If you have been waiting to partner with someone in authority and they have held back. Let it go. Those who have not partnered with you will lose the benefit they may have had from your ministry...so many opportunities have been missed. Partner with those who will honour what God has put within you.

Enough...if you have suffered, like my friend who is a recent widow, under the very person who was responsible for bringing your well being, God has heard your cries. God is on the side of the widow and the Fatherless. Be careful if you have brought oppression upon those in your care rather than justice

Find Godly authority ...to cover you, to partner with you or to release you. Work with those who will not block you out. Submit to those who will honour what God has put within you, give you ground to grow and release you in your heavenly call and help bring the Kingdom of God on Earth. Like Simba, remember who you are and who God made you to be and stand in it. It is the time of reckoning and fruition.

Focus passage: Matthew 20: 25-28.

I have seen a theme this weekend in the text above and I am exploring if this is how God is beginning to speak to me. Feed back welcome!
